72 hrs True Italian Food 2025: Looking for the best Italian aperitivo in Berlin

Germany’s largest festival of regional Italian cuisine returns to Berlin for its ninth edition.

Focaccia with pistachio mortadella and buffalo stracciatella, montanara with tomato sauce, mozzarella and burrata, Sicilian caponata, aubergine parmigiana, panzanella, sarde in saor, bruschette, pizzette, zeppole, maritozzi… These are just a handful of the 53 mouthwatering specialties you can enjoy at the 72 hrs True Italian Food event, taking place in Berlin from April 9th to 12th, 2025.

For three days, 53 of Berlin’s top Italian restaurants will simultaneously offer a special deal: for just €9, you can savor an authentic Italian dish paired with a drink (Sarti Spritz or Crodino Spritz as a non-alcoholic option). The event kicks off on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and runs until Saturday evening, giving food lovers plenty of time to indulge in the best flavors of Italy.

The selection is as diverse as it is delicious: from Italian regional recipes like Venetian cicchetti, Apulian focaccia, and Roman supplì to innovative creations like octopus carpaccio, "millevoglie" (puff pastry layered with chickpea cream, zucchini cream, guanciale, and pecorino), and "funghi in saor" (roasted mushrooms with onion stew, flour, pine nuts, and sultanas). Whether you crave tradition or a modern twist, there’s something for everyone.

But that’s not all—this year, nine of the participating venues are brand-new openings, while around ten have opened just last year. That means the event is also the perfect opportunity to explore Berlin’s evolving Italian food scene and discover exciting new restaurants. The full list of participating venues and their featured dishes can be found here.

Now in its ninth edition, 72 hrs True Italian Food continues its mission: to spread the authentic culture of Italian cuisine abroad—not based on the nationality of the chef, but on the quality of ingredients and the authenticity of the recipes.

As always, the festival will also feature a photo contest on Instagram, where participants can share their best shots of the event. The top prize? A three-night stay for two at the beautiful Hotel Admiral near Ravenna, Italy. More details on how to participate can be found here.

How Does the Event Work?

To experience one of the 53 exclusive specialties, visitors simply need to go to any of the 53 participating restaurants between April 9th and 12th and request the special "72 hrs True Italian Food" offer. In addition to the dedicated event menu, each venue will continue to serve its regular dishes, allowing guests to choose whether to stay or explore other participating locations.

All restaurants offer vegetarian options, and many also provide vegan and gluten-free choices, which are clearly indicated both on the flyer and online.

The Map od the Participating Restaurants

To facilitate access to all participating restaurants, a dedicated map has been created, highlighting the True Italian venues in proximity to Berlin’s subway stations.

The map is available on Google Maps and will soon be distributed as a flyer in all participating restaurants.
