Berlin Chocolate Festival 2026: An Ode to Chocolate!

The Berlin Chocolate Festival is back — for the third year in a row. And this year, it’s getting truly exciting: four “Golden Tickets,” inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, are waiting to be found…

Panzerotti made with cocoa dough, arrosticini paired with Belgian chocolate, arancini, chocolate gnocchi, tacos, alfajores, brigadeiros, croquetas with chorizo and a dark-chocolate filling, plus éclairs, pralines, and countless other creations: all of this awaits visitors at the Berlin Chocolate Festival, taking place on 21–22 March 2026 at Komplex Berlin (Modersohnstraße 35–45, 10245 Berlin). After the success of the past two years, welcoming more than 9,500 guests, the festival returns for its third edition.

In the open-air area, a large street-food zone showcases culinary highlights from around the world. Indoors, visitors will find a market with direct sales from patisseries, makers, and companies. With more than 40 exhibitors, guests can sample classic chocolate specialties and original recipes created especially for the event, or buy delicious cocoa-based creations to take home. And of course, hot chocolate and a selection of coffee specialties will be available too.

To complete the experience, the festival also features masterclasses and workshops dedicated to all things chocolate. As the event is family-friendly, there will be a dedicated kids’ area with a play corner for younger visitors.

The golden ticket

Admission is €5; children and teenagers up to 16 enter free of charge. The ticket also includes a chocolate welcome gift from our partner Viani. This year’s special highlight: on each festival day, two “Golden Tickets” will be hidden inside selected welcome gifts— inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Winners will receive a €100 Viani voucher, redeemable at Viani stores in Berlin.

Tickets are already available at eventbrite.

This year, Chimneys is back with its delicious treats — here, filled with chocolate ice cream and caramel sauce.

Not just food: workshops and masterclasses for kids and adults

The Berlin Chocolate Festival isn’t just about indulgence — it’s also about learning. With an extensive programme of workshops and masterclasses led by Berlin-based and international pastry chefs, visitors can dive deep into the world of chocolate.

There will also be free masterclasses, available in English as well, plus a workshop by LETA Patisserie for our younger guests. The full programme will be published shortly.

Chocolate consumption in Germany and sustainability

Chocolate arrived in Germany in the 17th century, initially as a luxury import from the Spanish and Portuguese colonies in the Americas. Today, it is a firmly established part of the country’s food culture.

Germany is not only a country of consumption, but also a major production and export hub: in 2024, an average of 12.8 kilograms of chocolate per person were produced. This figure reflects production—not actual consumption—since Germany exports significantly more chocolate than it imports.

The industry has recently been under strong price pressure. The backdrop is the cocoa crisis that began in early 2024: crop failures, extreme weather and plant diseases in West Africa pushed the price of raw cocoa at times from around USD 2,400 per tonne (spring 2023) to over USD 10,000. The market has since partially stabilised, and raw cocoa is trading at significantly lower levels again. Some retailers have already reduced prices for private-label products, while many branded manufacturers are reacting more slowly due to long-term purchasing contracts.

Consumer behaviour is changing as well: according to an international market and opinion research institute, 52 percent say they are buying less chocolate; in 2025, overall sales declined (-6 percent, and -12 percent for Christmas chocolate). Milk chocolate remains the most popular variety (around 55 percent), while interest in darker options — as well as in origin, quality and ingredients — continues to grow.

It is precisely this development that the Berlin Chocolate Festival embraces: moving away from mindless consumption toward conscious choice and genuine discovery.
