Berlin Chocolate Festival: the first festival entirely dedicated to chocolate in Berlin
Street food, patisseries, and chocolate-themed workshops: True Italian presents the first edition of the Berlin Chocolate Festival

Cocoa dough pizza, churros, Venezuelan tequeños, Argentine alfajores, Japanese wagashi, crepes, babà, profiteroles, cocoa tagliatelle, Chinese flower cakes, vegan waffles with chocolate sauce, pralines, and chocolate bars produced in Berlin, as well as various chocolate creations from pastry chefs across the city... This and much more awaits visitors at the Berlin Chocolate Festival, taking place on the weekend of 16th and 17th March 2024, at the Arena Market (Eichenstraße 4a, Kreuzberg).
Outdoors, there will be a street food dedicated area offering a wide range of culinary products from all over the world, while indoors, there will be a marketplace area, where you will have the possibility to buy products and pastries directly from the producers. You will find the most classic chocolate specialties, as well as more curious and unique recipes especially created for this event, and various chocolate creations to take and enjoy at home. Needless to say, hot chocolate will be available, along with a selection of coffee drinks, some of which may include chocolate.
To liven up the atmosphere, there will be chocolate-themed talks and workshops. As the event targets also families, there will also be a dedicated kids area. The entrance fee is 4 €, but it is free for children up to 12 years old. Tickets are already available on the Eventbrite.
Not only food: talks, workshops and demonstrations
The Berlin Chocolate Festival also aims to provide information: thanks to a program featuring talks, workshops and demonstrations led by Berlin confectioners, attendees will gain valuable insights into the world of chocolate. Typically, such workshops come with a high price tag, but at this event, they are offered at the affordable rate of €5. Visitors can register for the workshops on the same day directly at our info point during the event.
Highlights include a session with Giorgio Mecca, the owner of Giomecca pastry shop, discussing various chocolate types and tempering techniques. Another must-attend workshop features Elena Zhuravleva from LETA Patisserie, demonstrating the art of crafting miniature eclairs. Additionally, a special workshop tailored for children is in store: Anna Marcantonio from Dolci e Salati pastry shop will guide the young festival attendees in creating chocolate teddy bears. Scroll down for the complete program.
Chocolate consumption in Germany
Chocolate has been a hype worldwide since the first processing of cocoa, with archaeological evidence in Central America and Mexico dating back to a period between 1800 and 1400 B.C. The annual per capita quantity of chocolate sold in Germany reached 5.84 kilograms in 2022. This number has been steadily increasing from 2018 to our present. In Germany, the most consumed chocolate product is chocolate bars.
As with most food products nowadays, consumers and industry operators are increasingly attentive to methods of chocolate production, the working conditions of those involved in its harvesting, and the related environmental implications. This translates into a growing focus and production geared more towards fairness and sustainability.
