True Italian Pasta Week

In Berlin the fifth edition of the festival with the best pasta restaurants in the city

Spaghetti alla chitarra with shrimp, pistachio and lemon, pumpkin tortelli with apple mustard, homemade casarecce with sausage ragù, risotto with ‘nduja and burrata stracciatella, linguine with octopus ragù and bottarga… these are just some of the recipes offered by 38 of the best Italian restaurants in Berlin during the True Italian Pasta Week, an event held for the first time in 2018 to celebrate this symbol of the Italian cuisine and which will take place from 13th to 19th November in the German capital. 

For one week you can enjoy a really special menu at the 38 selected restaurants: you can choose one dish between two exceptional pasta recipes (each restaurant has its own) along with a glass of wine by the Italian wine producer Allegrini (red or white) and a digestive (Limoncello di Capri o Molinari Caffè) for only €16.

The aim is to encourage the city's foodies to take a real culinary tour of some Italian recipes they've never tried before, or places they don't know but are worth a first visit. The 2022 edition recorded over 5,000 sold menus in the 32 participating restaurants.

What kind of pasta can you expect during the event?

The event intends to celebrate pasta in all its shapes: orecchiette, linguine, pici, rigatoni, but also gnocchi, ravioli, tortelli, lasagne...with sauces and fillings that are just as varied and special. A regional touch will certainly not be missing! Many recipes will in fact celebrate the many culinary traditions of the Belpaese: pasta and beans 'alla veneta', pasta 'intaganata' according to a Sicilian tradition, umbricelli 'alla norcina' (from the region Umbria), Trentino dumplings, spaghetti 'alla Nerano (from Campania)', pasta 'alla Norma' (from Sicily) and much more.

#hungryface: how hungry are you? 

True Italian Pasta Week is not only a feast for the palate, but also for the eyes. Alongside the event, a photo competition is being organized on Instagram with the theme #hungryface. The photo or reels taken with one of the dishes at the event, where the “hungriest” expression can be seen, will be awarded a prize. The prize is a pasta workshop by Pastamadre to discover all the secrets of fresh pasta and bring the experience of good Italian food into your own kitchen.

True Italian Pasta Week: organizers and partners 

The True Italian Pasta Week is an initiative of Berlin Italian Communication, organized as part of the True Italian project for the Italian Cuisine Week in the World. Partners of the 2023 edition are Allegrini, a winery in the heart of Valpolicella, one of the most prestigious areas in the Italian wine scene, Limoncello Di Capri, a sweet liqueur produced with Sorrento lemon peels, Molinari Caffè, a digestive born from the combination of Molinari Extra and 100% Italian-roasted coffee beans, METRO and Acqua Panna / S. Pellegrino. Pastamadre also supports the event by offering a fresh pasta workshop as a prize for the winner of the photo contest. Media Partner of the event is Berlino Magazine, the most widely read magazine by Italians in Germany.
